Yesterday I had the privilege of spending the day with my two grown children. My heartbeats. The weather was amazing, the venue exquisite and the Festival truly flavored. I never truly understood the level of love and selflessness that I give freely without hesitation; until I was gifted these two amazing individuals by God. I often look at them with the same wondrously perplexing stare that I had when I was handed each tiny soul for the first time just after giving birth. Twenty plus years later, I’m still in awe of the two miracles I get to call my babies.

Mama Love

The kind of love you will never understand,

Until you hold this tiny life in your hand.

Helpless, yet powerful enough to dictate your every decision,

With the utmost precision.

That’s how he/she has to be cared for.

That’s who I feel fear for and will protect with my life.

Never felt love so deep.

No matter how far down I dive I could never reach its depth.

When you hurt, I hurt

When you bleed, I bleed.

When you cry, I cry.

When you laugh, I laugh.

When you dream, I dream bigger,

Doing everything in my power to make sure those dreams come true.

That’s what Mama’s love can do for you.

Mama will make the impossible possible.

When it comes to you,

Impossible is just a myth waiting to become your reality.

There is nothing that Mama’s love can’t do when it comes to you.

If you can imagine it, she can make it happen.

For the very moment she laid eyes on you,

She gained the super powers of PROTECTOR, provider and miracle worker.

You not only hold the key to her heart,

You hold the key to her existence.

You came into this world and made her a Mama, the closest thing on earth to God’s love.

I’m thankful for the gifts from above,

Just like a precious dove, peaceful and pure,

Evoking a love that will always endure.

A love that transcends my physicality.

A love that dictates my reality.

A love that will always fight for you,

Ride for you,

Try for you,

Die for you,

Because that’s what Mamas do

And

Mama is thankful you for.
